I'm thinking of taking the plunge and buying one of these:

http://www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk/Panasonic-TXL5...

I'm after a nice slim 55" tv and this seems to be a nice set......it's my first smart tv and I have high hopes for good picture quality....

Is there any reason not to go for this set, or is there a better set available at this price?

Sound wise, I have an av receiver, sub etc so sound isn't going to be an issue

Link's broken... But most Panasonic are very good, last chance to buy Plasma but their LCD a match for the best of the rest. Obviously if you drop lower down the range this is not the case so always best to go see one for yourself.

I think their latest Smart TV interface is also quite good as well. Certainly better than the 2012 set I have.

My brother has the 55" and I bought a 50" off the back of seeing that.

Good picture once you tweak the settings a bit.

I am quite impressed with the intelligent frame creation on it.

Panasonic are supposed to be launching the 2014 range of TVs later this month, so might be worth waiting a few weeks, I will be as we're after a new Panasonic TV too.

There is no 4OD or ITV player unless you buy a Samsung.

This should change sometime in the future.
