Help with speaker terminals

I'm upgrading the speakers in my new car and I'm trying to work out which is the positive and negative connection in the proprietary plug that the car uses.

Is it always the case that the fat terminal is positive and the narrower one negative, as per the picture?

Easy check is to use a 1.5v battery. Postive end to the positive terminal will cause the cone move out/forward.

In the eighties when I used to fit car audio for a living this was always the case. I doubt that it has changed.
