Decent dual (L&R) ceiling speaker
Discussion
Which Sonance is that one?
And what size do you want?
I use both Sonance and Monitor Audio, MA only do one model of Dual Stereo, the 100 Series in both 6.5 and 8" drivers.
Sonance for a mix of quality and both sizes and in the new Visual Performance Range sounds amazing, even in the little 4" (none dual stereo) range
Let me know and I'll happily price some stuff up for you.

Hi VEX, the speaker I have seen is the CR 101 SST, its at least an 8" and it sounded great coupled up to a Sonos Amp.
Could also do with your input on outside speakers for a patio, I have done them before but just using a set of £40 ones and it sounded OK but not brilliant.
Basically about 12 or more zones have been wired in a big house with both speaker pairs being took to the centre of the room and 4 to outside. The upstairs zones are wired back to a cupboard on the landing and the downstairs and outside ones to a cupboard in the basement. The people that live there want to get about 4 zones up and running for now to see how it goes. Lots of data 5/6 wired round the house as well if needed.
Any input on anything other than sonos that would do the same sort of thing. I think using a phone to control the music is a given not via wall switches etc.

Hi NH1,
There are quite a lot of speakers in the Sonance range and that one is the lowest of the low and it is a 6.5" speaker rather than a 8"
Have a look at their VP range (visual performance) an amazing sounding range of speakers, but you are starting to jump up the price range quite a bit. They look good as well, a flat grill (little or no curve to see in a flat ceiling) and have no clear bezel edge, which means the look all grill in the ceiling.
For that range the start at around £240+vat RRP for the VP62R and go all way upto £630+vat for an 8" VP86S which has a very good driver.
Alternatively there are two monitor audio options. The CT165T2 and the CT180T2, prices of these are £135 and £170 respectively, but these are a similar quality to the original CR101, however they do look so much better because again they have the flat grill and no visible bezel.
As of Sonos, it really depends on what they want to do, Sonos is great at what it does but there are others coming up at it. Nuvo is one of the brands I am quite liking, it is a little more, but is comes in a rack based configuration which is far neater than Sonos sitting on shelves, it has USB inputs for music on a memory stick, as well as almost all the functions of Sonos. Control is via wifi and apps on either Apple or on Android.
Let me know if you need anything or more help, where is it? who were the numpty installers and do you want someone who can advise, guide and install properly for you? hehe.
Oh, and little PH deals are always available as well.

Thanks for that, the job is in Cheshire. I have now learned that the size of the speaker refers to the woofer and not the diameter of the whole thing.
Would you have wired it differently. I did a simple set up a couple of years ago and used separate left and right speakers, I was told it was better for a single speaker to be more in the middle of the room because if you are at one end then you only hear the left or right channel. Also I wanted to run the cables to a corner or shelf in each room but the customer wanted everything out of the way.
For the limited stuff I have done I used RW salt or Midwich as its now called but they are hard work to try and buy anything off, the customer doesn't want anything too oustanding and wants to pay £100 or so per speaker although I think they may have to pay a bit more.

Personally, two speakers, left and right, is always going to 'sound' better than a dual stereo stuck in the middle of a room.
It really depend on the clients wishes, on currently doesnt want in-ceilings, so I did what you have done and gone to the corners and am using the little Monitor Audio Radius 45's which fit almost perfectly over a single back box plate.
If they want to manage their costs then the Monitor Audio CT165T2 and 180T2 will be a perfect blend of quality and looks without the big cost. Don't forget that ideally you should also fit firehoods behind them as well.
Not a legal requirement, but for safety I prefer to put them in.
