Are they any good. I have a smart DVD player but its a bit slow, would this device mirror the speed of a smart phone onto the TV?

Kind of, don't know, probably...

Sorry never played with one so I can't be specific but this is essentially a bridge to display content from handsets that support Miracast (Android) on TVs. Apple TV is a media player and Mirroring is just one of it's features, it allows direct movie rentals and purchases from iTunes, has apps for YouTube, Netflix etc and does lots more. Might be better to look at Chromecast, this is Googles direct competitor to Apple TV and looks pretty cool. Waiting for one to play with.

We install them for our clients and I can't remember the last time someone had a problem. Pick 10 people and ask about any product and you'll find someone who had 'issues'. At the price these sell for you might as well have both anyway.

I am very, very reserved when it comes to praising technology, the Chromecast has been a superb purchase though.

What exactly are you trying to "stream" from your phone to your TV?
