What projector? Up to 1k
Discussion
Looking to get a projector for my living room. Willing to spend up to about 1k, must be full HD, not too worried about 3d although seems to be pretty standard nowadays.
Can anyone give me some advice on which projector to buy? And where best to buy them from?
Will also need a ceiling mount that will keep the projector as flush to the ceiling as possible as I have a low ceiling in my living room, so if anyone knows of a good one to get, please let me know.
Will probably get a 120" electric screen from eBay.
Cheers!

I went cheap and got myself the Optoma HD131x (black version of the HD25).
It was only 600 over a year ago and so far no complaints, image quality is great, 3D is very good. Only downside is that it can get a little noisy on bright settings etc (however for me it's fine as it's mounted behind and above me.)
It's helpful that my room is dedicated, I have black walls and carpets so in light of this I could get away with a less expensive, less bright PJ and still have awesome results. However I can happily say that if I was to use a PJ in a light room I would have expected to pay more for a brighter/higher spec 2D only machine.
Overall if you have a room where you can really limit the light I would definitely recommend the HD131x/HD25.

I also have an Epson 6100 (the non-wireless one). As above, I see the rainbow effect so the DLP based projectors were out for me.
I'm very happy with it, on an 84inch screen on 'eco' (low-power) mode it's bright enough to be dazzling, any more would be painful so I expect it'd be OK on a 120inch screen in the noiser 'normal' mode. I assume you've measured heights etc? With a low ceiling, and assuming 1:85 ratio, that'll be a tricky fit won't it?
Detail, contrast ratio, etc are all great with the Epson. It struggles with absolute black level (might be worth considering a screen with a gain of less than 1) which does affect the colours. It does also suffer from motion blur as expected with LCD based models so perhaps not the best choice for watching sports. It has no clever frame interpolation or anything to combat that. None of that distracts when actually watching a film though. If I were buying a PJ today I'd get the new Sony SXRD:

but it's getting on for double your budget! Maybe get this and pull the screen down yourself!
I have this mount:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AN5I18U/ref=...
which is fairly compact, but with that and the projector (the Epson models are quite large) it does hang down. I'm just over 6foot and can walk under the projector comfortably in my '60's house (7 foot ceilings?).
Oh, and the 3D on it is terrible!
