Hoping someone can maybe advise? Would like to watch TV via my laptop on the larger screen of the TV set. From the two pics, would this be possible and if so, what lead would I require? There is also a spare scart on the TV.

There are no HDMI sockets on either laptop or TV.

It's possible, but the sockets you have are limiting.

For video, you will need VGA to composite (also known as RCA), and for audio a 3.5mm-3.5mm audio lead.

What other AV sockets are on the TV?

Thanks for reply.
Can't quite get the TV off the wall but managed to pull it out far enough to see that there is in fact an HDMI input there. It is a Sony Bravia TV.

Just need to know what to plug into on the laptop?

Unfortunatrely that's a bit like saying my car is a Ford Fiesta, too many variations.

Your laptop has a VGA port and a lot of Sony TVs have one as well so a simple VGA monitor cable should do. You can also get a VGA to SCART cable.

My rude response is RTFM!

Using RCA/Scart plugs for connecting PC's to computers usually doesn't work very well, the PC just can't put out a good analogue audio signal in my experience, and even if it does it's horribly low resolution/fuzzy, you get issues with interlacing... I'd be surprised if your TV doesn't have a VGA socket on it, that really is the only way to go. HDMI is no use to you I'm afraid as you have no digital video out on the laptop.

This says it's USB to HDMI...so it must use that off video-over-USB 'displaylink' standard? Might work for you, check you can get WindowsXP displaylink drivers first though.
