Not just a clean cut but they are now in multiple bits. Damn b
h! Gawd knows why she decided to do it. 
Anyhow, I need a cheap pair to replace them. Dunno what make these ones were as they are nameless.
They are only used on my computer but I listen to music via YouTube plus some iPlayer stuff.
I prefer the over the ear closed cup (is that the phrase?) ones that do not disturb anyone else.
Really, really cheap up to about £30. I know for that price I do not expect perfection but any ideas what to search for on eBay new/used and what ones to avoid (tinny, overbasey)?
