Sky Multiscreen
Discussion
It seems sky multiroom has been replaced by multiscreen. I have recently moved in to a new house and was going to get multiroom. However the multiscreen box is a bit short on features, no recording or on demand features. Now I assume that this box just takes a normal feed like the other sky boxes and if this is the case then there should be nothing stopping me just connecting a normal HD box and using its on demand and recording capapbilities. It will be connected to the internet which seems to be a stipulation of multiscreen so they can see that both boxes are in the same property.
Also I want to send the signal from this second box to another room as well, can this be done via HDMI to get a better picture or does it have to be by RF?

A TV link or on a newer box an IO Link will feed a signal to another box.
It will but it will be a crappy picture, I use a TV link with a tiny 17" TV in my bedroom and its acceptable for occasional use but only just. Mono audio and PQ the same as old analogue TV.If quality is a concern I'd look at using a HDMI splitter and depending on length either a HDMI cable or a HDMI to Ethernet extender.
The TV link/iolink with a coax cable could be used for controlling the box but may not be necessary as a lot of the extenders also transmit IR back to the source or you can use the Sky+ app on a smartphone.
Yeah I think HDMI splitter is the way to go. It's less than 10 mtrs to the other TV so it should be fine picture wise from what I have been reading. For control I think I will just use the app although I have seen infa red extenders on Amazon which may work.
A thought on the app, can it be used to control more than 1 box?

I think so but only have 1 box. When I installed the app I was certainly asked to pick, from a list of one, which box to control.
If you're running a HDMI cable you might as well run a coax aerial cable at the same time. If your box has an RF2 output you can use the TV Link device for control ( with an iolink if a newer box without rf2)
