New AV setup help.

I'm looking for advice please as my old Kenwood stereo amplifier has finally died after 15 years of service (the source selector constantly jumps and no amount of contact cleaner appears to fix the issue) so I've decided its time for an upgrade.

A lot seems to have happened in hifi in the last few years and I've decided its time to enter the world of home cinema. I'm pretty much decided on Sony's STR-DN1050 AV receiver as I have a Sony tv, Sony Blu-ray player and a Sony CD player that should nicely integrate. It also seems to get good reviews and has the networking connections (like Airplay) I'd like to use.

Given the size of my living room I would run a 5.2 setup and plan to use my two existing speakers as the front L&R speakers. I would complement these with a Canton Movie 160 package, as I live in Germany and Canton are readily available here (they are also white and small enough to pass the wife test!). The two spare speakers will get used elsewhere or as part of a future upgrade.

As I plan to use the setup to listen to music as well as home cinema I have one main issue I'm unsure on. I have a Project record player that I would like to integrate. How can I do this? I presume I need a phono amp, but where would I connect it to? The back of the STR-DN1050 looks like this:



Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The phono amp would simply need one of the spare audio ins, either Sat or Video 1 should do the trick.

The amp should offer the facility to rename the inputs so it really doesn't matter which one you use.

Does the Turntable have an HDMI output? [/joke!]

Yeah as above, either set of the analogue (red/white) sockets. As you acknowledge you will need a phono-stage amp to up the level. Can confirm that you can rename the inputs for the on screen display.
