Hello all.

I have an old AIWA stereo that has not been used for a few years and since we are doing out the spare room to make it into a baby's nursery I don't have anywhere for it. I don't think its worth ebaying and won't I be doing the annual car boot sale for a while so really it might be for the bin.

Question is before I do bin it could one or two of the 210w(peak) three way speakers be removed from their housing and be put in a spare wheel size enclosure and made into a little sub for the car? My stock stereo is pretty poor and wonder if this could work running off a low powered amplifier and after market head unit?

Edit to add - They are 6 Ohm and 80wRMS each

Maybe but I'll probably consign both car and stereo to landfill. Or get decent stereo for car.

Facebook local selling groups are a great place to sell or give away low value but expensive to post items. Someone, somewhere, will want it.

Do you have a garage or man cave that needs music?
Alternatively, maybe use it for next years barbecues outside when it's sunny?

If you're binning it then maybe someone would like it on freegle or freecycle?

No man cave or garage this time sadly, definitely next house! I should have free cycled it really or taken it to the charity shop where usually take things that are not worth ebaying.

I have stripped out the speakers now so I am probably going to have a go at making them into a small sub enclosure for the boot of the car. Even if it doesn't work out I would have always wondered if it would have so its got to be worth a go........

Not mine, found it on Google images. Basic principle is choose a container with a handle and stick some speakers/electronics & a battery in it. Looks like this chap is streaming his mobile audio to it. Pretty cool for BBQs!
