Panny plasma with vertical black line suddenly appeared...

TX-P46G, bought end 2009 with comparatively few hours on it still, now showing a single pixel wide vertical black line mid screen (or at least was last night).... bit of googling seems to indicate this is a panel replacement job to rectify.
Still just in warranty; worth a try or 'fair wear and tear sir'?

Perhaps not.... typically, having not been used since the issue was reported and a visit from the local Panny service agent organised for today, the thing gets turned on and not a hint of a problem 
They obviously cannot address a fault that is not apparent (it was there, honest). Suspect it will do some hours between now and D-day!
