Need a new TV for our kitchen/diner extension so looking for a recommendation from those in the know. Preferred brand is Panasonic due to very good past experience so have 80% decided on the TX-40AX630B as you seem to get the most for your money. It's not the main TV in the house so won't be much film usage but needs to have a decent picture and good Smart features. For a budget of £700 what else should I consider?

Why 4K?

JL have the TX-42AS650B 1080p set for £500.

I guess I'm trying to future proof where possible. 4k's the latest tech, I know its not really used now but I'd assumed in 3 or 4 years will I regret it?

To benefit from 4k on a 40" you will have to glue your eyeballs to the screen to watch the (unavailable) 4k content. Even 1080p is going to be mostly useless at that size.
