Symbol showing in corner of screen, what is it?

Hi all,
This is driving me mad, we bought a new TV a few weeks back and there is a symbol that constantly appears in the top left corner. Sometimes it shows every few minutes or so, other times it flashes on and off every 10 seconds, its driving me nuts!

it has this symbol and also one with a red no entry type sign,


I have googled and tried the manual, but I am non the wiser...

the Tv is a Hitachi 50HYT62U 50 Inch Full HD Freeview HD Smart LED, and we are with Virgin Media

Well the manual is useless so no I have no idea. It looks like a reload icon though, like what you'd have in a web browser.

Look on the remote for a similar symbol. Press it. Tell us what happens.

Something to do with not being connected to the internet?

Maybe it's trying to update its software or something and cannot connect.

The wuss I think everyone at some point will have been left scratching their heads regarding modern technology and being outsmarted by Smart TVs, been there and got the tshirt etc...

Suggests it's a "retune" symbol, and that you may need to check the Freeview/Freesat recorder manual rather than the TV documentation.
