How to completely re cable headphone?

Ive got a set of new headphones that i really like but the cable is destroyed. In my attempts to repair the cable it now needs to be rewired from the drivers to the jack plug.
Ive taken them apart and can see there are two connections on each driver - red and gold, same both sides.
I assume the red is positive and the gold is negative/earth ?
This is the bit thats confusing me, how do i go from 2 wires from each driver to a single lead? It needs to be some sort of Y cable?
Which type of cable would I need?
Im determined to do this as i want to keep them, thanks
