I have just moved into a new home and have to sort out my communications pronto, so require some advice please chaps.

I want to get the usual BB,TV,Phone combo but am getting bogged down in all the differing options.

Virgin is not available on the estate (yet). Sky is available but I am trying to keep TV expenditure down. I have had both previously (full works packages) and tended to find I would watch bits and bobs but not utilise all the channels. So lets discount those two for now.

I really must have BT sport since I follow rugby, I have an 18 month daughter so need kids content, and my wife is happy with the usual trashy E! etc and we want to watch the occasional film.
The possibility to watch sport/movie content ad-hoc that would be on SKY (ERC Rugby for instance, occasional F1) would be ideal. Which has led me to the following conclusion.

BT Infinity, phoneline and TV Youview for bt sport, E!, kids stuff etc
A NOWTV box for on demand sky sports/movies

Does this sound like a plausible option? Or are there other solutions. I have heard 'NOWTV' is better than netflix for instance.

Over to you! Cheers

I assume you can get BT Infinity so the BT option should work with the £10 Now TV box filling the gaps.

What is "E!"?

I'm pretty sure you can get Now TV services via the BT Youview box (I'll check tonight)

I went with BT for the following. Phone line (somewhat irrelevant these days), Unlimited Infinity BB, TV Entertainment package, HD BT Sport, the additional Kids channels (Disney etc), and HD pack. £125 Sainsburys voucher, for £37.99 a month on a 12 month deal so if is rubbish I will defect back to SKY. Not sure I will miss the extra channels. Seems like a reasonable price for enough content to be going on with.

I am going to either go for the Now TV, or look at an Apple TV as the additional functionality of that with our apple stuff looks good (mac book, phones, ipads). Apple TV has NOW TV built in for the sports on demand, a selection of movies to rent/buy. I think the Youview box does too, but apparently functionality is limited on youview for NowTV.

Cheers

Now TV is available via the BT Youview box, as is Netflix.

Take a look at Mag 250 set top box, these use internet TV streams from international sources.

Very cost effective if you have decent broadband speeds.

Cool, thanks for the tips.

It is being installed on 21st Jan. I shall use it for a week or two before rushing out and doing anything else.

Looks like I might not even need to get a secondary box after all.

For those with BT - how do you rate it?

Cheers,

Charlie

I occasionally miss Sky1 and the F1 channel, but other that that its fine. Not had any reception issues, like we did with sky.
