SVS 25-31 PC PLUS - have mine! Collect from Northants
Discussion
Hi Collective!
I've just upgraded from the above to the SVS PC2000 - so its latest rendering.
It was one of the first 25-31s imported into the country, direct from SVS, during the days when they used BAX Global for delivery.
It's life has consisted of moving from its box, to the corner of the living room - and has sat there ever since (10 years). It's in very good nick, and cosmetically, I'd call it A, and only not 'mint' because of dust visible on the underplate.
It's only had light to moderate use - apart from the occasional Darla-knocking-on-fish-tank scene demo!
It's a mind-blowing unit, by any account.
I'm not sure what its market worth is right now - but I'd rather it just go to another SVS fan, or anyone who would appreciate it.
The only caveat is - you'll have to collect from mine - J15 of the M1.
So to confirm - this is being offered for free.
Arif

I would love one of these and live local, but i am by no means an audiophile and perhaps it would be wasted on my basic soundbar setup!
Ha ha - indeed! Please can I hold you up as an example of an UNsuitable home for it!!I'd say more suited to anyone with a min 5.1 set-up of some description, and really a dedicated AV amp.
In terms of performance, it's got to be thought of as a high-end piece of audio gear. I mean, people speak the name 'Velodyne' in the same breath as talking about and comparing these cylinder subs! And those things are in the £3K bracket.
It was around £800 new, but easily '£1500/£2000' in terms of performance and accuracy/blind test.
Plus also - it would need to be blended and melded into one's current set-up, in a way that anything non-home-cinema would not allow really - e.g. setting the crossover to perfectly complement where your other speakers 'depart' at the bottom end.
For me - it's been living with a medium-range Yamaha amp, Mission floors for the fronts, Monitor Audio centre (twin), and then two KEF 'eggs' at the back - so still only 5.1.
Also - you do really need either a detached house, or an empty block of flats - I'd say it's wasted on anything less than that - or will at least have to live most of its life turned-down to almost-Off! The proverbial sports car limited to 30mph, as it were.
The Darla scene for example will literally 'shake' the whole house (three floors), and those who don't know, will report or suspect either a large truck having passed their house, or a mini earthquake! Think of it as how thunder can shake a whole house. It's powerful pressure-waves created.

Makes me wonder what the hell your upgrade will do!

Wow that's a really generous offer there, top man!
Like you I imported my SVS cylinder sub years ago via Bax Global, mine's only the PCi plus though. Mine is used in my dedicated basement cinema (build thread on AV Forums here: https://www.avforums.com/threads/bens-new-cinema-r... ) and I've often wished that I had another one to put on the other side of the room to even things up a bit.
Although I see it's already been claimed but if it falls through for any reason I'd be very happy to take it off your hands :-)

Well actually - the upgrade in power is only nominal (it was already as much as my current dwelling would cope with) - what I'm hoping is that the digital signal processing and overall accuracy will be better, especially as I've started to use it for music a fair bit, lately (nowt too heavy, though).

A decent sub really makes you realise how much of the 'atmosphere' of anything - is contained in everything below 60 Hertz, IMHE!!

I could easily cope - but the missus wouldn't
LOL!! Indeed! These things are utterly Marmite, when it comes to the wives' reactions of fellow sub-bass heads!
The only other (commonly-accessible) way to have anything like that kind of performance, is to have a very large box!!

Very cool, sir! I will indeed shout you, if for any reason it doesn't end up with Bobley.Like you I imported my SVS cylinder sub years ago via Bax Global, mine's only the PCi plus though. That's brilliant. Let's give it a punt. Arid, if you'd like to email me your details pls address to (my forum name)73@Gmail.com. If it does clearly blow the rest of my system into the weeds ( and blow the Windows out) then I'll get in touch with Mr dodge.
Ah - fabulous! Will indeed e-mail you, and that's a very pragmatic approach to it all sir! We should all stay in touch as Northants home-cinema nuts (I'd happily wear that moniker!), anyway. I thought it was just me in a 50-mile radius!Arif
