TV Connection - help!!!
Discussion
I am moving into a rental flat next week and have just discovered that there are no TV coax points.
Every room has a number of data access points and in a cupboard there is a patch panel for all these. Below the patch panel I can see a multi access point for coax and sky which has one coax patch lead going to behind the patch panel.
So the question is - how do I get a normal TV signal to my TV? Do I need some type of conversion cable/adapter that converts RS232 to Coax or is there something else I need
Because this is a short term stay I am using an old TV and freeview box which has no internet connectivity so I need to connect via coax.
Thanks
Gary

If I understood your discription correctly it sounds like there's a distribution system but the links / plates Have not been made or fitted, if there's a data network I can't believe they didn't install coax to at least the principle rooms. I'd have a word with the landlord, someone must understand the installation. Otherwise you could install a Freeview/Freesat/Sky receiver in the cupboard and use a pair of HDBaseT baluns to extend HDMI to the TV and relay IR control back. Not cheap though.

The flat is about 8 years old so I have no idea what the previous tenants have been doing. I don't want to go down the balun route as it's only for 6 months - I have them in my current house so know the costs.I might have to just forget TV for 6 months - might do me some good

I sold the self build Chris! As soon as I moved in, I realised that I wanted to do another, albeit different, one. I got an offer I could not refuse really quickly so off we go
So I am renting for 6 months while I decide what to do and where - very likely moving 3 or 4 hours North of Poole to be nearer family for me and Mrs Garyhun.
I have no idea what the system is - I'm moving in tomorrow so will take a closer look and report back. All I know is there are 2 data ports in pairs everywhere and this patch panel right next to the coax/sky faceplate in the hallway.
I have asked the rental agency to let me know what to do - but am still waiting. The whole building, 5 units, is owned by one LL and all managed through one agent so they SHOULD be able to help....... but we shall see.
