Hi all I have a Samsung Tv with the only audio out appearing to be a digital audio out. I want to connect this to my Ruark R4i which has an input for twin phono. What do I need to sort this out? Is it a case of something like the link below and then the cables?

Thanks

Similar digital to analogue converters (DACs) are on eBay for a lot less.

Have you considered using the headphone output from the TV, or getting an audio signal from the scart socket (if it has either of these)?

Would either of those options mean the sound was less quality?

I don't think you will notice with broadcast TV. I'm quite fussy, and I'm happy using the headphone output from the Samsung TV in my dining room, connected to a Denon microsystem.

Im not going to use it for broadcast TV i will be using it for Blurays as the Ruark system is far superior to the TV speakers so think i will go the DAC route

Does your blu-ray player not have a digital audio out? If so, I would use that and not have the audio stripped from the television.

Amazingly, there have been a few Samsung models without headphone sockets

Bluray probably has red/white phono outputs, that should save buying a DAC

I would buy an av amp and connect the amp to the bluray. No need to spend a lot of money

Because it does not accept digital inputs. I love Dolby digital/ dts. Phono will not do that.

Unless I have misunderstood the situation

If you want to play your blurays only through the amp what does it matter what the TV has output wise?

Just run a phono cable from the bluray player.
