I bought a Panasonic SBX-N700 sound bar
Discussion
On Thursday the OH informed me that the builders were coming in today to knock through the back of the house.
Amongst many other things that meant I had to very quickly source a new TV, TV unit and sound system. Due to the room layout I can't do my normal trick of cabling my TV through the same amp I use for music.
So after work on Friday I went to Richer Sounds to get the TV and a sound base.
Once I'd had a look at the sound bases I discounted them as the decent ones are surprisingly bulky and so on impulse bought a Panasonic SBX-N700 sound bar instead.
I was pretty dubious about what sound quality £250 of soundbar and wireless sub would actually give and, frankly, thought some of the reviews I'd read after I bought it were way over the top. But I have to say that the end result is pretty impressive considering the price. Once I'd fiddled around with it and run it for a while it was great. I actually ended up playing some tunes through it of Sunday afternoon and had it cranked right up.
I'll keep my existing audio set up for serious volume/proper sound but for day to day I can see myself bluetoothing Spotify to the soundbar.
Best £250 I've spent in a long time. And no, I don't work for Panasonic or Richer Sounds. It's just if you are looking for a soundbar in this price range you could do a lot worse.
The only downside is that I was hoping to be able to use Miracast to throw images/videos from my iPad to the TV but looks like those lovely people from Apple don't support it. There's a surprise.....

I haven't done the full install yet as the builders are only starting with the demolition today.
But I did set it up briefly. Lack of HDMI not an issue for me as it's a very simple set up - decent enough sound for a secondary TV in open plan kitchen/lounge.
