I mostly watched Tivo or Bluray - both are plugged into my Denon reciever, and then a single HDMI runs into my telly. I used to get the odd video disruption, - just for a second or two, the picture goes, all the audio continues to come out the speakers, - and then the video comes back again. This has been getting worse lately and has been happening more and more often frown - sometimes if I turn on an appliance elsewhere (electric heater for example) the tv picture cuts out momentarily... - i presume the difference in power supply caused this. However I was sitting watching a bluray last night and it was cutting out more times than I can remmeber.. sometimes it can go for 25 mins withouth problem.. and then cut out about 5 times in a row for about 2 - 3 seconds at at time during a 1 minute span...

Is this the AV reciever do you think? Could it be something else? I also have a 3,000 power amplifier (inuke) attached to the reciever...

More info - when i first got the AVR, I sometimes had handshaking issues with the telly, but I overcame this by always turning on the AVR LAST.

Any advice / info would be much appreciated, as this problem is really spoiling my viewing pleasure at the moment.

Try HDMI interference.

I've got a big power amp and all sorts of high current stuff on a stand. I put up with momentary cut outs for a few weeks, and then one day, it just stopped altogether.

The HDMI cable had flopped down next to a power cable. I moved it away and it's been perfect since.

A good shout by Justin, I would also check that the HDMI cable is pushed in fully as I've had odd issues when the cable was partly hanging out.

However, I wouldn't connect an iNuke to your receiver (if I'm right in assuming you mean you are using the Denon to switch the power on for the iNuke?). The auxiliary power socket on the Denon won't be rated high enough for the iNuke I wouldn't have thought, it is intended to power up things like DVD/BluRay players. FWIW I have my iNuke 6000DSP plugged into a separate mains socket as it is effectively drawing as much power as a 3 bar electric fire when running at full chat.

I would also try using a different HDMI input on your Denon to check it isn't that particular input. Also if you have deepcolour enabled in your player or in the Denon, then turn it off: It doesn't achieve anything (since no content uses it) other than pass extra data down the cables, making HDMI issues more likely.

Finally, I have heard of issues where short HDMI cables are used between equipment (ie player to amp or player to video processor). I recently helped someone resolve an issue with a 'Darbee' video processor as they were using 0.5 metre HDMI cable, once he replaced it with a 2 metre cable the fault went. Lumagen (who make some of the best video processors in the world) recommend using at least 2 metre lengths between equipment, which was why I recommended he tried it.

Shame was it cost me a sale as he was going to buy my Darbee processor off me as he thought his was faulty. banghead

Hmmmm - HDMI interference... that really does sound like the most likely cause, given what I have already said about turning other appliances on etc.... - many thanks - hopefully this will clear up this problem! smile - I was even considering buying another AVR - thinking it was a software issue...

the inuke is only connected to the reciever via the subwoofer cable... - the inuke has a seperate power lead.

I have already tried different HDMI ports on both the reciever and the telly - makes no difference.

I will check the deepcolour option - I wasn't even aware of that...

Hmmm - I think all my HDMI cables are at least 1 meter, maybe 2 - not sure.... hmmmm will have a look at that also.

Watched a few hours last night, - the problem didnt happen once... hopefully that's fixed it - thanks again

What did you change? Or did it just stop happening of it's own accord?
