Bit of an odd one this - I have a pair of B&W 601S2 speakers and one had a blown driver - I bought one on ebay but weirdly it's a much darker colour (they are yellow kevlar).

I wondered if it was from a smoker's house, but it doesn't smell. Seems to work fine. Would it be possible to clean? Anybody seen anything like this before? I know I could stick the covers on but it's besides the point really!

I used to have 603S3s and the cones were much darker than those on the same models that I had seen in the shops. It didn't matter in my case as they were both the same.

If you are sure it is a genuine cone, the only option might be to buy another one to match.

Genuine Kevlar drivers will change colour over time, darkening from pale yellow taking on a brown/orange cast; the governing factor is how much sunlight ( UV ) they're exposed to. Over time most polymers tend to degrade in sunlight unless they have UV stabilisers added but light coloured polymers, like Kevlar, degrade most.

UV degradation...........Kevlar gets a specific mention.
