I've got an old bluetooth receiver - BTR-006 - which is fine for 'plugging in' a phone tunes to a portable speaker in the garden for BBQ's etc. but it looks like the newer tech (APTx) is better and less muddy-ing that the old
Anyone got any real word experience of recent kit?
I've always thought that Bluetooth and MP3 was a nightmare combination for anything other than background music - so intrigued as to how the tech has evolved.
Also, like the idea if being able to plug in BT headphones (metaphorically) to the TV...
p.s. tried to look up differing bluetooth protocols - but got lost on the first para...

The QED device in your link - like the Logitech and Pure devices I've used at home - is a Bluetooth receiver only. It will take a signal from a phone or computer and deliver an analogue output to an amplifier or an active speaker. It won't digitize and transmit the analogue output of a turntable or an FM tuner.
The ones I've used are fine for a convenience product. I use them mainly for making speech-based iPlayer Radio programmes audible to the entire room, but Bluetooth is severely limited by range and line of sight, so you can't wander about with phone in pocket or drift from room to room without the signal dropping out.

I've got the Avantree Priva transmitter + August EP650L headphone for TV/Gaming and find it works pretty well (the Avantree unit is tiny!).
I think the biggest issue for me was finding AptX and low latency especially for movies so sound isn't out of sync with picture, but this might not be so important for music listening?
