I want music out on my decking for when I BBQ but I don't want the hassle of having to take speakers outside each time so I'd like something permanently connected. All of my music currently runs over AirPlay.

I can't find anything currently available in the UK that is both weather resistant and has AirPlay built in. Any suggestions?

I'm very interested in anything that can be an outdoor wifi speaker, to stream from or to connect to AV system...

When ever anyone says 'outdoor speakers' I can't help thinking of one of these...

When you haven't got anything helpful to say hey?

You've heard of a volume control right? You don't have to listen to things at full volume.

We had a holiday let last year where there really were no neighbours within sight or earshot. Even there I thought hard before taking my Bluetooth speaker outside while we played boules. (And when I did it sounded rubbish anyway, as it wasn't designed to operate in an unconfined space.)

Some of us here may live on vast Highland estates where we disturb only the grouse on the moor, but who here lives in a built-up area and could play music outside at any kind of worthwhile volume without impinging on someone else's peace and quiet? I'm certain I couldn't, so I don't do it. I once had an otherwise delightful neighbour whose idea of fun was gardening to the sound of Radio 5 football commentary, to the point where we used to spend sunny days indoors with the windows closed to keep the racket out.

Speakers, with rare exceptions, belong indoors. You may disagree; I think it's a valid point of view.

Personally I think quiet background music during a BBQ is fine, especially if the overriding sound is likely to be talking anyway.

Anyway, horses for courses etc.
