Headphones for the TV ?
Discussion
I need to get a set of headphones so when I watch TV or a DVD I can actually hear the dialogue, My wife has the ears of a bat and can hear the damn thing perfectly at a whisper, I on the other hand like it "too loud"
Is there a system that would allow me to wear wireless headphones but still let her listen in the normal way at the volume she finds acceptable.
Such a system would need to have no lag or delay between the image and the sound and stand alone so I can control the volume to my ears as I see fit.
PS: I am not deaf, nor do I have any hearing problems, she just has incredibly good hearing.

As a PHer who is "hearing impaired" may I suggest you have your hearing checked. I was in the same position a few years ago and used to be in the "TV is too quiet" camp but now it is SWMBO who is there.
My hearing aids may not have all the latest features as they are supplied by the NHS and postcode lottery applies. If you want to play the gadget game there are two companies that make aids controlled by iPhone apps but £4500 a pair is outside my budget.

Thanks for the warning about hearing but I have excellent hearing and can often hear things others miss, the main problem is that I find our living room is full of other ambient noise so dialogue is drowned out by the chickens outside, the wind, the rest of the family walking around on the bare floorboards, that sort of thing.
My wife is not so bothered by all the other stuff and seems to be able to watch tv despite all the other stuff going on, maybe she has a better noise to signal filter than me !
ETA: We live in an open plan converted barn with all the bedrooms downstairs, we have a 3 and 1 1/2 year old so when they go to bed the volume has to be low, that coupled with the background noise means the dialogue is too quiet for me while the music can be too loud if I have the volume up so I can hear what is being said.
Headphones, then I can play on the PS at night too.
