problems with a Pioneer AV Reciever SC-2022

Hi,
I am having some problems with this AV receiver, the remote keeps defaulting into a weird mode where the power on/off button on the remote keeps defaulting to zone 3 on and off. It's getting on my bloody nerves TBH, I have done the obvious like changing the batteries for a fresh tested set, but after a while it defaults into this annoying mode. I have the free app downloaded to my iPad and use that, but it is still annoying the crap out of me.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
