Sky will be gone by tomorrow but I now have a smart tv connect by wifi and have amazon prime etc. i assume to take advantage of the freeview channels built into the tv I need to connect to the aerial.

Can someone please enlighten a Smart Tv newbie how I connect the 2 sky tv connectors to my Smart tv or am i getting this all wrong?

Thanks in advance

Your smart TV *may* be able to take one of the old sky connections and give you freest channels - tell us the model of the TV and we can look it up.

For netflix etc you probably need to connect a network cable from your broadband or it might possibly support WiFi. Again, tell us the TV model.

Freeview: yes, connect the aerial.

Edit: you could leave the sky box in place and pay sky a few quid for a freesat card. It's a one off payment. Someone will know the exact price

Thanks it's a Samsung UE32J6300 curved LED

I assumed I could just plug the sky cables into the back of the tv and have those as my aerial for the freeview channels

PS am already watching netflix etc via wifi but assume I dont need to watch everything via wifi and do need the sky dish at some point

Your TV doesn't take satellite inputs so without an external box your sky dish is of no use.

As I said you could keep the sky box and use it to receive freesat channels: https://ukfree.tv/article/1107052217/Can_I_stop_pa... in much the same way that you're used to with sky. I don't think that you can record though.
It's also possible to buy a freesat boxes: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/search-keywords/xx_xx...
Human ones get the best reviews

You can also plug an aerial into your TV and get Freeview channels

Freeview comes through the aerial.

On-demand services such as netflix, watch again, BBC iPlayer, amazon prime etc come through the wifi.

I suggest that you plug the TV into the aerial and everything will become obvious.

In general, if it's scheduled, broadcast TV (as listed in the newspaper) then Freeview/aerial is the tool. If it's on-demand then wifi apps are what you need

The old Sky cables will provide you with FREESAT
A TV aerial will provide you with FREEVIEW

they are two different services, FREEVIEW is usually built into tv's
FREESAT more unusual to find.

Do you have 2 cables feeding the sky box from the wall or more?

Hi, I have literally just connected my satellite cable to my Samsung smart tv using one of the two cables from the dish and it works!
You may also have one satellite connector on the tv as I have.
To clarify:
For smart services and prime/netflix/etc you need internet connection.
Freeview is via arial
Freesat is via satellite dish - no need for satellite provider box.
Hope this helps
