Hoping someone can help me in the right direction?

At Paolow castle a kitchen refit is on the cards and by refit it will need completely gutting with new everything (inc ceiling).

I'd be a fool not to take the opportunity to make it ultra snazzy while we are doing it - but an hour of googling and I am a bit lost!

I know Sonos is the byword for quality - but I just can't justify that level of quality in what I am seeking to achieve.

What Id really like is:

A 'smart' flip down TV under one of the counters that has the ability to connect to...

A 2 or 4 speaker setup which can not only have bluetooth connectivity and DAB, but also provide the sound for the flipdown tv.

In my mind the TV would then provide a nice front end for streaming media and the speaker's control module would have the bluetooth and DAB angles covered.

Thats it all covered in theory - but TBH I dont really know the brands or what is even available (or even if I am asking for something that doesn't exist)

Can anyone point me in the right direction? The install will be easy (ish) as we are already killing the old kitchen - but I know when I am out of my depth and to ask for help - and I am - hence this post!

Rough budget is £500 (but I could stretch this for the right setup). An iPod / iPhone dock would be nice to add but the bluetooth should cover that if not.I can always have a phone charger in there and just bluetooth it over I suppose.

Is there anything obvious I am missing? Or is this even possible in this budget? Ive seen some packages from buycleverstuff.co.uk but with brands like Mando and Klab I am not sure about them....

Am I asking the impossible or is this more doable and I just havent stumbled on the right page?

Many thanks!

Hi,

I think I am appropriately qualified to reply to this, as I'm the main competitor of the website you mentioned! (and a long-ish time poster on PH!)

I run www.kitchenbathroomradio.co.uk specialising in ..... kitchen and bathroom radios!

Your budget will get you a very decent kitchen radio, but not so sure about a proper flip down TV on that budget as well.

The KB Sound kit is out of the question for this as you can't do what you want "neatly". You could use a KB Sound iSelect with iPod Dock but it's a 30 pin dock connector so won't work with modern phones, you'd need a lead from that to the TV and then you can't use bluetooth.

The best option you're going to get for this is also our best selling item, the Systemline E100.

http://kitchenbathroomradio.co.uk/systemline-e100-...

This will give you an FM and DAB radio built in... a 3.5mm audio jack to plug your TV into, and bluetooth connectivity, all controlled from a very stylish in wall keypad.

Quite a few of my customers will do just as you're doing and connect in a TV (or a media streaming like Apple AirPort Express etc)

I can't supply a flip down TV unfortunately, I can say that the website you mentioned is very good, he knows his stuff and provides fast efficient delivery, just like me smile so if you did want a flip down you could buy that from him, and the E100 from me wink

I'm currently offering upgraded speakers until end of September (saves £100, much better quality, although the standard ones are good as they are) and if you did decide to buy from me I do have an under cupboard TV mount, brand new but opened package that you could have for free, then you could mount a normal TV with the left over £100 and hide it away when not in use!

If you want any more info, installation advice etc on it, just shout.

Thanks so much - and for the PM - the system recommended ticks all the boxes for sure - do you think 2 speakers will suffice for a 5x3 kitchen? Im liking the looks of it so its winning so far smile
I can't commit to anything till we do the kitchen itself which will be a couple of months but will come to you for the system then. It should be perfect - will do everything I want and it gives me a bit of time to sort out the flip down tv
Cant wait! smile

No problems, the kit comes with all wiring required too.

The flip down bracket I have here isn't going anywhere, so if you did go that route just let me know when you're ready and remind me of this thread.

In the mean time, any questions, you know where I am smile

Any reason why you cannot fit a normal flat panel TV somewhere appropriate in the kitchen? I've always thought the flip-down ones may be okay for a campervan, but would have no place in my home!!
& I will give an upvote for Sonos - even the Sonos:1 (which I think sounded about as good as the Play:3 !) works very well and is a nice system to use.
(sorry, not really helping, am I.....)

Sonos would be lovely - but I'd have trouble getting that past Mrs Paolow smile
I think I will end up with a 'standard' tv on a flip down mount as smart tvs that are 'kithen ready' dont seem to exist though...
