Play:5 has/is being discontinued, no direct news on it yet but lots of Internet guessing.

Our wholesaler has run out already.

Will post as I find out more official stuff.

Interesting, I think the play 5 is great hopefully it's because a replacement is due.

Interesting: we have a few Play:1's and one Play:5 - they all sound good (to me) but the 5 has more 'weight' (physical and sound!) - we like it a lot!

Not sure I really need a gesture control for a speaker I control from my phone.....I think they would be better knocking out a waterproof one for outdoor use, but maybe that is just me ;-)

thx!

The naim muso is a much better listen in my opinion and had great build quality and style.

Good to see UK manufacturers producing such though I have a feeling they were recently bought by a French company

SONOS have released some more information here

Looks nice, but I guess there's no real reason to upgrade from the current Play:5 (Mine's actually an S5 ZonePlayer or whateve they were called)

TruePlay sounds quite interesting as well, but still need a portable SONOS solution more...

Yep, got the press release this morning.

Interestingly it looks like TruePlay is going to be available to Play:1, 3 and the new 5 so it will be iteresting to see what effect it has on the audio and if we as users can then tweet it to meet our own preferences.

Engadget have reviewed it here and says it is a big step forwards.

Have to say it does look good...

It is going to be about £100 more than the current one.

Also be interesting to see how it stacks up against its rivals which sound better but the user experience is not near Sonos at the moment.

Price looks toppy unless the sound really has moved on.

I was looking at getting a play:1 but may hold off now, presumably the update will filter down to the other models soon. Other option is to see if it really has moved the sound on in which case I'll bump my play:5 upstairs.

Are the Play 5s any good? Thinking of getting something for my new house and this looks suitable.

True Play only works with iOS which is a bit annoying.

Has anyone hooked up a connect to a decent hifi setup?

Currently using a mac book pro as source into a naim dac and wondering how the quality of the sonus connect is as a digital source?
Would be to stream flacs from nas and qobuz / Spotify

I feel like have already spent enough to on hifi so trying to avoid the obvious naim digital streaming source partly as prefer to spend my money where the digits stop smile

We have 4x Play:1's and 1x Play:5. We think they are all very good, but I realise audio quality is very much in the ears of the listener!
We went to Richer Sounds to hear them. The Play:3 speakers were the disappointing ones, IMHO - made the 1 & 5 look very good.
You can pair the 1's but not the 5 (although I suspect maybe you can pair the new one).

We bought the connect to hook with our lounge system....sadly we did this as we started some building works, so haven't yet had a chance to test our investment.

Must say we are VERY impressed with the Sonos solution in general, and I am confident the connect will work well too. Great for parties, with sound synchronised all over the house!

I'm thinking that a new play:5 just means I should buy one of the heavily discounted old-style play:5s... Anyone see any reason for this being a bad idea? I'm sure they'll continue to support the old model for a fair while yet, and to my untrained ear the play:5 always sounded great (as do my Play:1s and Play:3s).

Thoughts welcome though... to echo the above sentiment, scrap the hand gestures and make a weatherproof battery powered one that comes with a docking station!

Anyone considering a Play 5 should definitely consider paired Play 1's, especially if you have the room, no-brainier imo.
