Satellite / sub speaker package
Discussion
Hi folks,
Quick question.
Currently have an Arcam AVR100 with B&W DM601S2 fronts and Mission 731 rears used with my Panasonic plasma. I have come to conclusion that they are just to obtrusive in a family room and so the big speakers need to go. I listen to next to no music in there anywhere, it's all TV (freeview).
What I am after is a cheapish satellite/sub/centre speaker setup that will be unobtrusive but still sound decent enough. I want speakers that I can mount on the wall, smallish (would prefer something not black but not a deal breaker).
How would these be for music? Obviously not a patch on my B&Ws, but passable? At some stage I was considering upgrading to a Yamaha AV amp but difficult to justify the money where it's essentially for stereo TV with the occasional Dolby Digital film...
I have seen a few cheap deals on Richer Sounds. Would prefer to spend less than £300 but can up the budget if needs be...

Have a look at Q Acoustics range, I've the 7000 series paired with a yamaha amp. Small and come in white can be wall mounted. From memory they were £700 for 5 plus sub but that was 3 years ago. They also have the 2000 and 2020 models that may well be in budget, again small.
I bought from Exceptional AV. Would recommend.

I have a set of Tannoys running off a Yamaha amp. Mainly for TV/films/games. Music sounds OK them too, to my surprise. Black and currently £299. Get them bought.

Just coming back to this now - I have also noticed the Wharfedale DX1 package, currently at £250 at Richer (The Tannoys are £350).http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-packag...
I understand the Tannoys come with wall brackets (not a deal breaker), but any thoughts on the two in comparison? Need to work reasonably at low volume. Majority of use will be regular digital TV, some DVD/BluRays, and some music (rock/classical). Amp is currently an Arcam AVR100 but possibly upgrading to a Yamaha at some stage...
If you are more concerned with how they look rather than how much they cost these might be worth a shout.
I have set of these Kef T series speakers in white in a really big room with a 15" celling and have been very pleased with them.
