Is it possible to split the HDMI out from my Sky box so that it will run to 2 TVs? Not at the same time (although is that even possible without Multi Room - Don't want to watch different channels at the same time?).

I've seen some HDMI splitters, but the reviews on Amazon say they don't work with Sky?

Thanks all.

I've not had any particular issues with splitters and Sky boxes, however some just don't work well full stop! Just get one from somewhere you can take/send it back if it doesn't work.

A two way splitter will run two screens at the same time, no issues, the problem you get is with the HDCP copy protection coding, the Sky box has to 'handshake' with the screen, most splitters are able to overcome this. Try and buy one with indicator LEDs, so you know the connection is good.

Note. HDMI cables can have issues over 15-20m.

I have a splitter from my 2TB Sky+ box and it works fine. I have the splitter directly on the sky box output (i.e. before my sound base). It then goes to the lounge sound base and the bedroom equivalent. The only slight niggle is that it can confuse the CEC stuff (Bravia-Sync) a bit as the bedroom stuff can "see" the lounge stuff. It'd be good to be able to disable CEC passthrough at the splitter to avoid this.

This one definitely works: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001D9P1OW?psc=...

It requires it's own power (power supply is included) and the LEDs are somewhat bright but nothing a bit of electrical tape won't fix.

I use the Sky+ app as the remote, no need for IR stuff.

Cheers guys, I've bought a Neet one. Gotta say I haven't a clue what CEC is, but you've put Bravia which I think is a Sony TV? Mines not Sony so I guess I don't need to worry about this?

HDMI CEC refers to the ability to control other connected devices (e.g. volume control, auto input switching etc). Each manufacturer gives this their own name (and builds proprietary features on top) but it's all the same thing.

You'll probably have no problems - I had issued with the pairing of the sound base to the TV in the bedroom. I had to unplug the cable coming from the splitter before doing the setup. Once it was configured it worked fine with the splitter cable connected.
