I have iTunes installed on my lap top, and every time I play a song, my laptop connects to my Sony AV amp. How do I connect manually so I can listen to youtube (etc) videos through the AV system?

Any help for a techno idiot greatly appreciated.

You haven't said what operating system you have, what amp you have, or how your laptop is connected to your amp. I am going to make a wild guess and assume you are using apple air play and that iTunes can see your amp and is automagically sending it's output to that reciever.

You may be able to go to start -> settings -> sound (Windows 10) and choose your Sony AV amp as a sound source, but I doubt it. I think you'd need some software, like an airplay windows driver or something.

The other way would be to simply plug a cable between the headphone out of your laptop and a spare input on your AV reciever. You'd need a 3.5mm -> twin RCA cable for that. Quality won't be great but it'd be OK.

The laptop runs Windows 7 Home Premium. Yes when it connects (via iTunes), it uses Apple Air play.
