I am bringing my old Arcam set up out of retirement. Consisting of Alpha 7 tuner, Alpha 7 cd player and Alpha 7R amplifier. What would be recommended ?

What's your budget?
New or used?
How big is the room?
Do you have permission for floor standing speakers, or stand mount, or on a bookcase?

With budget no object, try looking at PMC - the twenty range.
Not cheap. but will last a lifetime.

Had a pair of these for years, fed from an Ion Obelisk 2, then a Musical Fidelity X-A2 and they've always sounded great.

sorry, would have been a good idea to put some info in ! I was thinking second hand. not wanting to spend a huge amount, maybe 200 ? room is about 20ft x 12ft if that helps. prefer floor standers really. had a quick look at the Mission 753, nice looking speaker. I also have a spare Alpha 7r cd player going spare smile

I've used Monitor Audio GS10s in the past which are excellent - not far behind the speakers I replaced them with, which were a LOT more money. I imagine you could pick some used ones up close to budget. I still have mine, although very very rarely listen to music in the room they're in - but I am still surprised at just how good they are for the cost.

ETA : Not floor standers, so maybe not suitable for you. But having said that, I would prefer floor standers too but despite multiple home demos of different types, floor standers just do not seem to work in my lounge. Speakers that blew me away in a shop demo were useless at home.

im not an audiophile so something with clarity. don't play music too loud either but like a bit of bass. more than happy with pre owned. had an old set of Diamond 4's which to me, did the job perfect. would have again but like some floor standers this time round.

I think Some liked the EPOS ES11's which are a stand mount but a bit of an acquired taste. The Mission speakers that everybody raved about were the 752's. The ones to get are the Freedoms with the Tweeters under the Mid/Bas.

IMO Arcam is very smooth (smoother than I like). I'd look at Mission, Kef or possibly Monitor Audio Bronze B3 (the floorstanding ones). Fleabay should get you something well within budget.

I'm trying to find a reason to move on from my B+W DM220's. But I can't. I might listen to a tune I've not heard in a while and they stop me in my tracks, they really do.

Quick update, found a set of Mission 773's local to me. Had an offer accepted on them. Will pop over and collect them this week.
