The old separates system is packing up and with space being a premium I am not planning to replace. I have a B&W Zeppelin for ITunes play back but I have a lot if CDs and I am looking for recommendations for a slim CD player, preferably an upright to sit next to the Zeppelin and with slot load (like a car audio) rather than tray load which I can use with the Zeppelin. Any advice would be appreciated.

How about a Sony portable CD player ? Smaller and with an optical output. A 'Tower' doesn't exist as such from a quality brand and you may well need a DAC etc to get the benefit. I would just look at a Streaming system and build my own playlists...for get the CD's.

Thanks for the advice. I guess one other option is to move all the CDs to digital using a service like Ripcaster. Could I then sit a hard drive next to the Zeppelin? Would this work? Something likes 3TB Seagate drive?

Pro-ject CD Box S. There's a few dotted around the country at various hifi dealers or on eBay, all at £299. In black it would look very smart next to the Zeppelin.

The network hard disk idea is good in theory, but the Zeppelin does not support DLNA so you would need to use iTunes on a laptop/PC, store your library on the NAS, and send via AirPlay from the computer, or using the Apple Remote app if you have an iOS device. I believe Seagate's wireless hard disks support Airplay but I'm not sure how it well it works, given you have to join its own wireless network and use their media app.

You could alternatively store music on the NAS, play back on phone/tablet via WiFi, and use Bluetooth on the phone/tablet to stream to the Zeppelin. It's a shame it does not have DLNA. It works a lot more nicely in that you would have a media server (NAS) to store the music, a media controller (phone/tablet) to select the songs, and a media renderer (Zepellin) which pulls the selected media straight from the server.

I still find it easier just to get up and put a CD on.
