Any advice from anyone? Shortly I'm picking up a pair of Audiolab 8000m monoblocks, being used with an Audiolab 8000c, a TAG Mclaren CD20R, and Mission 752's. I have been doing some research on interconnects for the M's; I don't buy in to the '10% of budget' where cables are concerned, but many hi-fi forums and the like suggest these VAN DAMMES - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291540218796?_trksid=p20... which are suggested to punch above their weight, being somewhat of a bargain. Has anyone any thoughts or suggestions?

Are they going to be seen ? If so choose something which complements or matches your room décor. If they aren't going to be seen then choose a budget which you consider to be an absolute once in a lifetime bargain and get something off Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisual-Rio-Stereo-Phono-Ca...

The cable test in the attached link is worth a look http://www.audio-forums.com/threads/the-cable-test...
You don't have to listen to any files, just read 'til the end of page 3.

Yes, I recall seeing that one before! I'll stick with the Van Dammes then, at under £20 a throw. They will be seen occasionally, so I don't want anything looking too cheap and nasty alongside the system. By the same token, if there is any truth around cables improving sound they are used by many a recording studio, so they should do the job! Thanks.

I use Van Damme speaker cable which sounds excellent, and is well reviewed. I do some work (not to do with audio) for a small high end hifi company and they recommend it highly. If their stuff is good enough for the studios where the songs I am listening to are recorded (e.g. Abbey Road), it's good enough for me!

So I can only predict that their equivalent interconnect is going to perform just as well, and be as good value for money. In fact I think I'm going to take a punt and see what it's like compared to the QED interconnect I have at present.

I recall that I can't use there speaker wire, as they don't do bi-wire cable which I need for the tri-amp set up. Yes had heard that RE Abbey Rd...... I've just spent £500 on the amps, £350 on the CD player and £250 on the 8000c, so I'm bug6ered if I'm going to spend half the cost again on a few cables smile

They do a four core cable which is their studio series, but that might give trouble reaching to the outputs on the monoblocs. I'd just get four runs of their normal cable (I have and keep it together with some velcro cable wraps, there's no need for specific biwire stuff. I went for the 2.5 millimetre UP-LCOFC Hi-Fi speaker cable as my runs are 5 meters. If longer you may need 4 millimetre.

Quoting me has left me unable to rid my dodgy spelling of 'their'... ooops!

Where the speakers are concerned I have some good QED stuff, which is also flat, to allow it to go under the new wooden floor. One condition of me having all of this is that the gf is happy with the aesthetics.... which doesn't include speaker cable trailing everywhere!

Hahaha. nooooo, she's on her way back up from London ATM. She has already said she wants the speaker cable (inc for the rears) to all go under the floor. She allowed me the amps, which is good of her in fairness - it's coming out of the equity in her house that we're using for renovations - so I'll let her have that term smile
