Panny VT65 Youtube App now gone FFS
Discussion
Got the same issue with non-support from Panasonic on the vt65 - the Skype app and Netflix are both dead on ours and no sign of a software/firmware update since the TV was about 6 months old!
Got fed up chasing my tail with John Lewis and Panasonic to try and establish when it might be 'fixed'
Seems shoddy service on a £2k 'smart' TV that a load of the features stop working because the TV manufacturer can't be arsed to develop the firmware to keep pace with the service providers they've marketed as coming with the TV.
We use Netflix a lot, but now have to switch to the YouView box with its clunky OS.
Shame the TV webcam isn't removable, because it ain't any use at all now....

Our Netflix is still working. Wife was watching it last night.

Just get a Chromecast. They cost nothing and will do 1080 YouTube/Netflix/everything else over HDMI. Plus you can cast things from your phone or tablet as well as a computer. Makes life so much easier.
True, but then you've got to faff about with an app to control the thing and either leave it dangling out the back of your TV or run another HDMI cable somewhere suitable. It's the irritation factor of a non-functional 'smart' feature that should be seamless in operation straight from the TV. I have absolutely zero need to stream anything via my phone or tablet - my media is all on a server on the network. The Humax Netflix app is OK, but the menus are slow to react on the Humax even after multiple firmware updates. It works but involves far more button presses. My 6 year old son manages it perfectly well - my wife, less so!
I've come to the conclusion that the "Smart" features on TVs are a waste of time. The apps don't get updated to support new services, and their accessibility and playback of e.g. DLNA streamed content is ropey at best.
Best thing is just to treat the TV as a monitor and use a separate device for controlling access to streamed content.

None of the big manufacturers bother to support their TV's with proper updates, they'd rather you buy a new set. Which is why buying a TV for it's SMART features is utter folly IMHO. Buy it purely on the picture quality. For SMART features, buy a Blu-Ray player for £150 and then replace it every couple of years, if needed.
