Good quality capacitors

My trusty NAD 320 has decided to throw its self into limp mode.

Before I throw it in the bin I am going to try and fix it. I believe replacing all the capacitors on the power board is the place to start.

Where in the uk can I get decent caps. from? I definitely need 2x 15000uF 50V caps and at least 2 other which I need to check the spec on.

I wonder if they suffer from the same problems as TVs and best to replace them with a higher temperature version.

Bought some cheapish ones ~10quid for the 4. If it brings the amp back to life I might look to upgrade down the line.

I recently attempted to 'refurbish' my old Audiolabs with some new capacitors and made a tiny error in the soldering reducing one half of the power amp to a burnt wreck the instant I turned it on! Be careful out there

I obtained them all from HiFi collective, good service, nothing wrong with the bits, just my workmanship!

Lucky you - I placed my order with Cricklewood Electronics on Saturday 8th October and it's now 15th October and still not received.

I emailed them earlier in the week, and all they could tell me was "Your order was sent 1st class post on Monday. It should be with you soon." (this was on the Thursday) a further email (sent Friday - yesterday) response was "As your order was received on a Saturday, Tony, we posted it on Monday this week. It went 1st class post. Mostly they deliver within a few days, buit sometimes a little longer. You should receive it shortly.".

Now I know that Royal Mail is going downhill, but really?

6 days (still not delivered) for an envelope containing 2 ICs, a crystal and a trimmer capacitor.

Hmm...

I wish I could cite "fantastic service" but I can't...

Well, it transpires that mine and other customers parcels went missing in the post.

To their credit, Cricklewood Electronics sent out a replacement order next day delivery.

Ironically, the original package turned up 16 days later...

Therefore it was Royal Mail, not Cricklewood to blame.

A happy ending.
