Ok GF has a nice big HD Sony telly only a few years old. HDMI Inputs etc.

However the internals are not SMART and stuff like a creaky version of IPlayer is due to stop working this month.

So what is the best HD Freeview Tuner SMART capable PVR available?

Not interested in Sky or BT etc will be happy with Freeview and Smart internet capability.

Would say at least 1TB capacity..

HTPC (3TB in mine) + TV tuner card (DVB-T2 dual/quad) + NextPVR + Kodi.

Oh and to the OP, as we've partially hijacked this thread, if you want a slightly more simple solution you can't go too far wrong with Humax stuff:

The BT YouView box is a fantastic bit of kit. Made by Humax. Try and track down a 2nd hand one if you don't want to pay BT for one.

Full freeview HD plus all catch up services and a phone app for scheduling recordings.

Has anyone looked at Plex DVR yet?
