Is there any way of getting Sky Go with a Sky Q subscription? Seems that the Sky Q app only works around/close to the house.

You get Sky Go with any Sky subscription, but you can only use the Q app within the network the Q box is connected to.

That's not what I'm being told right now online to Sky - I was about to take out a subscription but he has put me off

Sky Go is included with any Sky bundle.

If you have Sky Q, I think you get Sky Go Extra (4 remote devices as opposed to the normal 2).

Who is telling you different ?

Hmmm
The person I was 'chatting' to, told me that Sky Go is no longer an option. It's now the Sky Q app. If I wanted to watch Sky away from home, I'd need multiscreen bundle and the new app.
It lost him the deal.

With Sky Q there isn't a 'multi screen bundle' as that's sort of the point.

Should be able to just use your Sky login to access Sky Go, think basic gets 2 devices and Sky Q gets 4 I think.

News to me and, it would seem, a heap of articles on their website that refer to Sky Go.

That's what I thought, but he was adamant that Sky Go wasn't an option.
Only wanted it so that my son at Uni could watch some TV online.

I can't see why you'd need it with Sky Q,

I don't know anything about Sky Q, but was told by the 'SKyExpert' that Sky Q app has a limited range and would only work close to the Sky Q box - my son would need a second box at Uni (so-called multiscreen option). It all seems a bit mad to me.

Sky Go's entire purpose was to watch things away from the home. Maybe they're wanting to stop people sharing Sky Go logins and all you can do is load programs on to mobile devices to watch when out, which the Sky Q app can do.

Watching live- yes it needs to be on the network. We have Sky Q and you can download programmes to an ipad and watch them anywhere. Also have Sky Go so can watch live programmes also.

You only have a limited range to stream your recorded material. You can watch live channels away from the home.

When I was at uni you used to be able to take a multi room box and watch it as if at home, the box couldn't tell where it was (I definitely didn't do this Mr BSkyB) but that wouldn't work with Q as the Mini gets all of its content from the main box, it has no tuners in.

Maybe they're merging Sky Q and Sky Go now that Sky Q will be the only product they offer?

Doesn't make sense to do that.

I think when you press a program on the SkyQ app TV planner, if it's a live program you get an option to "watch online", although I dumped my SpyQ sub a while ago it could be worth a try.
