how do i get tv channels without sky box or ariel
Discussion
well here goes, i have a sky box in the lounge and another room but i only use them as the freesat channels now. I was using the RF2 out on both machine and had two coaxials that went to our kitchen and i just switched them around at the magic eye by the tv when i wanted to watch something in that room, it worked as its only the kitchen so nobdy really sits there for too long, normally a music channel as a bit of backgorund noise.
the problem is was i swapped one of the sky+ boxes for a sky hd box so it had the hdmi cable, moving the sky boxes around and now both cables give me a signal to the other tv but it doesnt light up the magic eye so i cant change channels. I even bought a new magic eye and tried it at the back of the box and its lit up.
so i have a picture just cant change it over. I cant get under the floorboard now to lay new wires. i can think my only option is to fit a sky box upstairs and route the hdmi down to the tv. and of course i then need wires to the sky dish.
i thought perhaps a now tv box would work, but that needs a ariel, i borrowed the android box and that doesnt really have normal tv channels etc.
is there anything that can get tv channels and not have a ariel.
video senders any good?

I have a 2TB Sky HD box and a coax magic eye works fine. I think only one of the RF feeds outputs the 5v that the eye needs. Try swapping your coaxes. However it may be that newer boxes don't output the 5v at all.
its strange though both of them were working before i started playing around. as i say the magic eye plugged into the back of the box and it lights up, put the magic eye on the end of the lead near the other tv and no light just a picture. If the eye lights when on the back of the box then you have a cabling issue
Magic eyes are very sensitive to bad connections so check all connectors also check there are no shorts from the outer to the inner of the coax
Too many connections in my experience will also make them fall over. 3 is probably as many as you will get connection through

thanks, been googling it and as usual its quite common for the sky+ hd box to have problems with the magic eye Magic eyes are very sensitive to bad connections so check all connectors also check there are no shorts from the outer to the inner of the coax

ive just been playing around with the sky box turned it off and on and its now broken, tried to replace the fuse in the plug and nothing.
will have another google...i think its a issue with the box outputting the 9v for the magic eye to work

Have you turned on the rf2 power supply default setting is off
Yeah that's all.switched on I've even re tuned the tv where the signed all is going to ..I can get a picture but no magic eye working. I'm going to get a multimeter on the end of the cable to see if it's getting a 9v SignalGassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
