What turntable for less than £100?
Discussion
I'm a vinyl novice and want a turntable to listen to a few new records. I don't want anything with Bluetooth, Wifi, speakers etc. I'm happy to buy used (would rather buy something older and get more for my money) and will probably be using it with a set of studio monitors.
Any recommendations on spec/brand? Even though my monitors have an RCA connection and are powered, I understand I still need an amplifier/preamp for the signal?

Google Goldring Lenco GL75 or GL78, I picked up one on ebay for £50 in good original condition a couple of years ago, £100 is probably more normal. You will need to collect it, they don't travel well.
They will need a bit of fettling with due to the age though and an OEM stylus is £89...
Pro-ject turntables are v. good value for money, you might find a second hand one in budget.
You will need a phono pre-amp / stage compatible with the turntable and then some sort of amp, a lot of older well respected amps have an inbuilt phono stage which would likely be a cheaper option.
search "little bear" phono pre-amp tube kit on ebay, probably not the greatest pre-amp but certainly interesting, not heard one myself though.
