Half a dozen times a year or so we run events at the local village hall - quizes and suchlike. Normally we borrow a projector but recently the provider has moved away. I see numerous "generic" projectors on eBay but naturally shy away from such things. Does anyone have any thoughts / suggestions? We're not showing 4k movies, obviously.

Optoma manufacture good entry level projectors.

Assuming the lighting is turned right down then? as budget projectors may not be bright enough. Also an ideas to check the price of the replacement bulbs is reasonable before you buy as some are more than others.

Just bought a benQ w1080st projector and for a relatively "cheaper" price £750 I'm mighty impressed. I went with whathifi recommendation
It works in daylight pretty damn good but with just a small amount of light blockage it's awesome.

Just as a comparison behind it is a 2010 LG HD 48" tv and back to back the picture is far far better on the projector.
Love it!
