Time to update the TV & add in a soundbar as a full 5.1 setup isn't going to be possible....

Budget isn't huge but has scope for a little creep.

TV is used for watching BT / Freeview - HD where available or SD if not, and streaming from Kodi.

Only other input is the Xbox One S for gaming or blueray playing (limited)

Would like 50 or 55" - no bigger.

OLED Would be nice but not feasible at my budget.

TV i'm thinking of taking the plunge and risking one of the Hisense TVs

I intend to tie this up with the Yamaha YSP-2500 soundbar which can be picked up for £400

I know the bar is slightly old but gets cracking reviews.

The only issue is it doesn't passthrough 4k, so would intend to run the xbox direct to the TV & output the sound over ARC back to the bar.

Anyone see any issues?

Comments / suggestions?

Cheers

Personally, I'd buy the best set possible on your budget, and then see what's left for the soundbar.

This would be better option...

Look out for options where you get a free sound bar or a discount on one, It would be better to spend more on the TV.

I just picked up a Pioneer SBX B70 from Richer sounds last week for £200 (from £400)

Very impressed with it for the cost (and the fact a full component system is a little over-kill for a flat!)

I have just bought these 2 together.

Can't fault either of them in any way.

I bought the Yamaha YSP-2500 sound bar from Richer sounds for £400 and I absolutely love it. Paired with the Sub it sounds amazing!! It is 'only' connected up to my 42" Samsung LED TV though which is maybe three years old now. Would definitely recommend though smile

I have the YSP-1400 soundbar and it's great for what i paid which was £200 a couple of years ago now, granted the connectivity isn't great and doesn't have some of the specs of newer and more expensive but i think it's great

Got the 2500 - very impressed so far.

For a soundbar it sounds superb.

2500 here too, tried a couple of other makes after selling a Yamaha a few years back and went back to them with the last TV. I've had a problem with intermittant connection loss on audio but put this donw to HDMI and not the bar.

I have that Yamaha bar too and it's great. Never once heard anything approximating to the claimed surround effect though. Anyone else?
