It looks like my old denon surround sound amp has died so I'm going to have to replace it

Unlikely to need surround sound any more as our front room doesn't work for it so looking for either a decent stereo amp or possibly a pair of power amps and a pre amp.

Only tend to have a cd player or DVD player plugged into it and have a pair of Anthony Gallo 3.1 speakers so it needs to have a reasonable power out put

What would people recommend without needing to spend a fortune?

Quite happy to buy used if I can get a good quality product that will last

How good id the Source CD/DVD player. The speakers look quite good, are they Floor standers?? and as such I would as a Baseline look at the AudioLab 8000 series as a starter. The higher end Cambridge Audio Amps are also quite powerful but at times do "clip2 depending on model. If the budget stretches then something like a Sugden Pre/Power or a low end CHORD might be suitable.
