Identify this AV cable
Discussion
I appreciate that trying to ID the type/brand of cable from a crappy photos may be impossible. I know nothing about HIFi but when i had the installation done almost 10 years ago now I paid a lot of money for the cables. I think the fittings(connectors) are gold. I recall the raw cable was something like 200/Metre. Anyway I have quite a bit and i'm dumping the old hifi system on eBay as it's been sat in storage for years. I don't want to give the cable away-been offered £25 and I'm thinking it's probably worth more than that. Any advice appreciated

looks like a coaxial audio lead (like optical)
i would take the £25 a run before anyone realises that unless you are dealing with cables that carry analogue signal it doesn't make the slightest difference what cables that carry digital signals are made of.
digital is just that; on or off - it either makes a connection or it doesn't - there is no 'better' way of connecting.

it was plugged into a Yamaha DSP-AX1 - out of interest, anyone know if they are worth anything. It cost a lot about a decade ago and assume things have moved on.
Ah right, so it's home cinema AV stuff not HiFi. The first cable is optical cable (white band) and the second one you've shown is the RGB. No idea what they're worth perhaps someone else will know. MrOrange said:
A fibre optic cable, or just a regular RCA cable?
It's not an optical cable, it's a composite video cable. Basically, just a bog standard RCA cable. The 3 red, green and blue cables are also video cables for component input. With HDMI being so common these days, component sets of cables have pretty much disappeared. Can't imagine them being worth much - chuck them on Ebay for 99p plus postage and see what you get

True unless they are well regarded. Try getting a DPA Black Slink cheap.
I would say they could be anything up to Van Dul Hul cables but as stated the multi cable does seem to be Component Video. Lots of TV's still have it as an input as XBOX 360's did use it.
As an Unidentified cable it's worth what you can get for it. Could be nothing.

The cables look very much like QED qunex RCA - competent, decently made mid-budget stuff.
The Yam will probably be worth around the same as rivals like the big Denons of that era - £100-£200.
It's a shame but it seems AV amps MUST have at least 11 channels, 6 HDMI inputs and Atmos / DTS-X before most will consider them

every week there is another hdmi upgrade that consigns this years amps to the graveyard.
My venerable 3802 is still in use, I bought an HDMI switcher with an optical breakout so I don't have to swap inputs on both the TV and amp anymore.
I thought about buying a new DTS-X/Atmos equipped AV amp, but realistically I'd never get away with fitting the speakers in the ceiling.
Anybody need some s-video cables?
