Topping VX2 t-class amp - my thoughts
Discussion
All
I treated myself to a Topping VX2 at Christmas to use with my PC and JBL Control 1s as an inexpensive system for the 2m x2m study.
First thoughts were that it wouldn't be loud enough and for £50 odd, wouldn't be much cop. When I plugged it in (via USB) they were confirmed, it really wasn't loud at all and sounded okay, nothing great. I then realised I'd turned the volume down on the PC so sorted that and discovered that actually, it's as loud as I need it to be so much happier.
In terms of how it sounds, it is really good. Clear and vocals in particular are fantastic. Only limited by a lack of bass which could be attributed by the speakers although one of them is situated in the corner of the room so aided by that but it does sound a little hollow I suppose. It has a bass boost function but all it does is 'muddy' the sound so not something I'll be using.
I'm auditioning some alternative speakers tomorrow - some Q-Acoustics (various models), Dali Zensor 1s and Monitor Audio BR1s... maybe some others. I'll report back once I've done this.

I really like both my T amps - I've been thinking about upgrading the smaller Sure one I use on my office computer but haven't got round to it yet. If I do upgrade it would definitely be for another T amp.
Fantastic little things. When I tested the three sets of speakers, the Dalis were the best by some degree and the bass boost I mentioned actually sounded good with them. the chap in the shop was surprised how well the amp worked.
