I just got given a low end TV, it is a Polaroid 50" and i have no manual for it.

In the 'sources' section it says 'wireless display' is enabled but i am not sure what it does, or how.

Anyone have any idea? It might be useful if i could send the picture from my ipad to the TV if thats what it is!

A quick Google for Polaroid 50" manual found this:

https://finlux.co.uk/product-manuals

WIRELESS DISPLAY
Wireless Display is a standard for streaming video and sound content by Wi-Fi Alliance. This feature provides the ability to use your TV as wireless display device. Using with mobile devices
There are different standards which enable sharing of screens including graphical, video and audio content between your mobile device and TV.
Plug the wireless USB dongle to TV rst, if the TV doesn’t have internal WiFi feature.
Then press the Source button on the remote and switch to Wireless Display source.
A screen appears stating that the TV is ready for connection.
Open the sharing application on your mobile device. These applications are named differently for each brand, please refer to the instruction manual of your mobile device for detailed information.
Scan for devices. After you select your TV and connect, the screen of your device will be displayed on your TV.

Look for Wifi Direct in your "i" product options this may allow you to do it
I don't use "i" products so no idea if they have it or not and if they allow you to use other TVs with it as I know they like locking down stuff unnecessarily

I think on WIndows 8/10 there's an option to connect to wireless displays such as your TV, that's how I think it works.

It certainly works like that on my TV.

Presumably its for pushing youtube and the like to your telly.

Top right of a youtube vid on a mobile device should be a square ish symbol with an arrow, press that, your tvs name should appear at the bottom, press that and it should stream to your TV.

That must be on the you tube app, which i dont have , but the TV has a you tube App, so not required for that particular function, but thanks smile

I can see why that would be useful smile
The TV does have a web browser but the way you have to type stuff in is so painfully fiddly it is almost useless! It took me five minutes to log into facebook..

I have no experience of Apple TV, i thought it was just a device that allows you to send the ipad picture to the TV but i just had a quick look on Ebay and discovered they have hard drives and you can install stuff like Kodi on them! I am a bit of a luddite and have never used Kodi but i have a rough idea what it is ( you can stream stuff that you would normally have to pay for, right?)

Seeing as the Apple TV has a hard drive does this mean i could stream to the box and watch it later? My broadband is too slow to watch live streaming frown

I only do legal downloads, no experience of Kodi, but from what I've read the illegal content on Kodi is being slowly shut down.

All my music and films are on iTunes, so I (my kids) use my Apple TV to play their stuff, plus I can cast YouTube, photo's etc from my phone over to it as well.

I think the newer Apple TV has 32/64g of memory for downloading, I've got a version 3 and you have to stream everything.

Thanks, i am bit confused why the box would need a hard drive for downloading if you still have to stream everything! I saw one that had a 250 gb drive, i would have assumed that was to store media on, presumably to watch or listen too later!
