Bought a Sonos Playbase, got to say I'm a little underwhelmed by the sound.

It's good, clear and concise but the volume is notably low, doesn't seem to come alive until it's at 75% volume, anything under that it's just plain disappointing.

Be good to know if any other users share the same experience - as I am contemplating returning the Playbase.

Funny you say that.
I know its not exactly the same thing however I was in JL for over an hour listening to the Sonos Playbar, LG SJ8 and Bose soundtouch 300 and I have to say the sonos was the worst one out the 3. Considering the price point of them it makes it even worst.

I would have thought the playbase might have been a little better. But I had the exact same feeling as you. The bose was considerably better.

I haven't got a playbar but do have a few zones.

There is an equaliser button on the room setting - I find if "loudness" is ticked it gives a but more oomph to low volume play.

Doesn't the Trueplay make a difference? (not that you could test that in a store) With the Playbase I think you can tune it based on where you are to be sat watching the TV.

Are all systems running a Sub when you demo them in the shops? Makes a huge difference.

Cheers for input.

I went into an electrical retailer the other day and listened to their playbase.

As much as I like the idea of it sitting neatly underneath my TV, it's just too low on volume to justify the price of the playbase.

Now looking into a proper 5.1 system.
