Hi hoping someone can help (it will probably need a software download). I have a cheapo 19" Grundig TV the model no is something like GU19??DTV (yes it had a built in DVD but that has had a disc stuck in it for years. The problem is that when it switches on it either goes to search for a software update or it just hangs.

I caused the problem when via the menu I tried to force an over air software update. It spent ages trying to do this but the update doesn't exist so now it continually tries to do this. Seems the electronics can't cope with not being able to find it.

Grundig were taken over years ago and are now only a white goods company and unsurprisingly no one is interested in helping. I doubt the tv is worth £25 but when it's working it's absolutely fine as its only used in a bedroom.

I've tried disconnecting everything for hours at a time, pressed every button on the remote for 3 seconds, factory reset several times. Nothing works.

I'd like to save it and use for a couple of years before it goes to landfill - anyone take pity on me (even if on,y for my poor taste originally)

If not it might give you a larf!

If you're that tight, why not buy a working TV for £25 off Gumtree?

Is there a USB socket, so that you can do the update that way instead?
(assuming that the firmware update is on their website)

USB socket yes. Grundig don't exist as a tv company and despite time being spent scouring the Internet there doesn't seem to be any publically available firmware upgrades. Weird I know.
