Now - I expect a few of you will probably laugh at this, but I'm in a bit of a pickle.

My Samsung TV has developed a vertical red line on the screen. A bit of a googling suggests that it is a tab error. Take it off the wall and open it up and check that the tabs are seated correctly and you stand a good chance of correcting it, so they say.

Now here's the tricky part... I fitted my tv to the wall using a mount which has pull cords on to remove it from the mount, not a million miles away from this one:

https://asda.scene7.com/is/image/Asda/079379553043...

The problem is, the cord snapped off on the left hand side. So I can unseat the right hand side but the left side of the TV is still attached to the mount, and try as I may, I can't unseat it.

I've tried re-attaching another type of cord, and I can see that it is pulling the mechanism but it just won't unlock.

I really don't know what to do next that won't either break the TV Or rip huge lumps of plaster out of the wall.

The most obvious thing to me seems to be to try and get some form of extremely long necked pliers (if such a thing exists, to try and poke around behind the TV to get to it.

Or - I suppose try and see if I can unbolt the mount from the wall with the TV still attached - but I don't know if the bolts are even accessible in that way ( I doubt it but will investigate later ).

any of you lot have any suggestions that don't involve a hammer, plasterer or new tv? :0

Can't you just slide it off horizontally?

Cut the wee nibs off the end off the bracket if they are preventing it from sliding right off.

I've tried shaking, sliding, pushing, pulling, it will not budge. I think I may need to attack the bracket with a saw or something

They're normally quite thin metal, you should be able to bend it easy enough with a bit of pressure.

You have two options...

A.. Knock the house down around the TV being careful not to damage it. Then have someone hold the screen while you knock down the final wall to which the screen is mounted.

B. Those cords pull down a catch that stops the bottom of the screen being pulled forward. Get a coat hanger and see if you can hook or it or better still get your hand up the back. Once the bottom of the screen is pulled away from the wall you should be able to lift it up and off. It will not come away from the bottom unless the tabs have been pulled.

Thanks all, I unlocked one side and rotated the TV until the weakest part of the mount snapped off. Was pretty easy in the end!

Haven't see a win coat hanger in about 10 years. Most handy of things.

That's because they've all been bent into TV removal tools
