Simple Tv 40/43 Inch.

Will be looking for a Tv for my father over the xmas period, probably a 40 but may be able to squeeze in a 43.
Hes not a gadget freak and does not have the internet at home so my main requirement is simplicity and picture quality.
Id prefer one with freeview built in as hes moaning about ditching sky and his current sky box does not have a hdmi connection anyway.
Has anyone bought something similar recently or is it worth me just popping to richer sounds and getting one from the big players?
Budget is max £500.

I've just bought a Samsung (7000 series) and the interface is pretty simple to access the catch up TV apps etc. However, it might be worth looking at TV's with Freeview Play (Samsungs don't have this but most other brands are offering it) - they have a single EPG (guide) where you can switch to what's on now or scroll back in time to watch a program that was on earlier/a previous day. This means you don't need to faff about with iPlayer, 4OD, ITV Hub etc apps which might be simpler to use.
